The Great Flood

This year the Assiniboine River flooded very badly. The Assiniboine River runs through the valley we live in. The people in Saskatchewan let a whole bunch of water out of a dam, so that meant that we were going to have alot of water coming our way. Down in our valley the water came up onto our fields and over our gravel road. That caused great distress in the Routledge family, we were forced to borrow our neighbors boat.

On the morning of Thursday, May 5, 2011 our basement had a tragic problem. We had found out that we had water all over our basement floor, we had to take every single thing out of our basement. The reason our basement flooded was because of the creek in our backyard, we have a small creek running in our backyard. The creek joins with the Assiniboine River causing the creek to backup because the river could not take any more water.

This has been a very interesting time in my life. We have never had a flood this bad in more than 100 years.
Sam felt the sun shining down on his shoulders while he sat happily by the stream. It was a perfect sunny day and luckily he was spending it with Sarah. Then, all at once Sarah pointed at the water. “Look Sam!” Sarah exclaimed. “It is a…It is a tsunami."”

Sam stared into Sarah's eyes, then Sarah yelled, "Run!" Sam and Sarah both ran for there lives. They were searching for the highest point of the valley. Sam saw the highest point. He started running without Sarah. Sarah started screaming at Sam, "Wait, where are you going?"

Sam looked back at Sarah, "I'm going for help. I'm sorry Sarah."

The wave was starting to catch up to Sarah. The wave was over 30 feet tall. Sarah turned around and stared right into the middle of the wave and then it hit her. Sam turned around at the last second and saw his best friend getting absorbed by the huge wave.

Sam was at the top of the hill. He just sat there and watched his city get absolutely destroyed by the monstrous tsunami. Sam was weeping because he saw that the tsunami was filling up the valley like a bath tub. It wouldn't be long before the valley over flowed with all of the water.

All of a sudden Sam heard a roaring noise. He thought that it was another wave from the tsunami, but it wasnt't. Right above Sam there was a helicopter

My Christmas Holidays

Over my Christmas holidays my cousin and his mom came out and so did my other Auntie from Montreal. She could only stay till the 27 so my Auntie from Winnipeg had to drive her to the airport on the 27th. On Christmas Eve my cousin and I stayed up until 5 in the morning playing Cod. My mom came down and told us to go to bed so we would be able to get up in time for Christmas. In the morning my grandma and grandpa Harrison came over for Christmas with my 2 Aunties. (My cousin stayed at our house). After we opened gifts we had breakfast. We had lots for breakfast; eggs, bacon, pancakes and lots more. After we were done breakfast my cousin and I went skating on my outdoor rink. Then we went tobogganing on our big hill in the pasture. By the time we were done that it was supper time. On New Years Eve we just stayed at our house and watched the World Junior Tournament, and we watched some movies too. I think that was a pretty good Christmas break.
